FOUR THINGS THAT MADE ME GLUED TO J’ADORE PARIS BY ISABELLE LAFLECHE

Eiyo lovelies,

bonne October. How was your September so far? I hope everyone is doing great. I'll be going on a vacation this Friday, 4th October 2019. Before I go for my vacation, I would like to share with you my review for a novel I just finished reading last week. Besides sharing my review, I would also like to list four things that made me glued to it. The novel is titled "J'adore Paris", and it is written by Isabelle Lafleche.

Isabelle Lafleche is an author who is enthusiastic about fashion and chic things. Her two famous novels are J'adore New York and J'adore Paris. These two novels have been published in four different languages - English, French, German, and Polish.

J'adore Paris was published in 2013. I purchased the novel last December 2018 at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Festival (one of the biggest book sale festivals in Malaysia, and the festival usually took place at the end of the year). The reason I purchased J'adore Paris is because of the interesting synopsis. Reading the synopsis makes me believe that J'adore Paris has a chic and interesting storyline. So I decided, I should not miss this novel.

J'adore Paris tells a story of a chic and trendy lawyer named Catherine Lambert. Catherine Lambert is also the main character in J'adore New York (Lafleche's first novel). Most readers believed that J'adore Paris is J'adore New York's sequel. However, it is not necessary for you to read J'adore New York first before you read J'adore Paris. J'adore Paris is totally a different story from J'adore New York.

In J'adore Paris, Catherine Lambert quits her job in New York and returned to her hometown, Paris to pursue her passion for fashion. In Paris, Lambert lands a job as an Intellectual Property Director for Christian Dior. Working for Christian Dior has always been Lambert's dream. Besides pursuing her passion for fashion, Lambert also reunites with her colleague-turn-boyfriend, Antoine. Lambert will be staying with Antoine in Paris and is looking forward to a new fashionable romantic adventure with the love of her life. But unfortunately, things don't go as plan for Lambert. Lambert's glamorous visions are soon replaced by the reality of dingy police vans and threatening anonymous phone calls. Lambert finds her life turned upside down as she battles with counterfeiters that produced and sell fake designer goods. Furthermore, Lambert's relationship with Antoine is also turning upside down. Antoine is frustrated with Lambert because she didn't sim to spend much time with him due to her haptic job. However, Lambert doesn't want to lose Antoine and let the counterfeiters win. With help from Rikash (Lambert's best friend and former assistant) and Antoine's support, they succeed in catching the real criminal. The criminal was someone Lambert knew in her past life.

J'adore Paris is a very enjoyable novel to read. The storyline is exciting. The storyline has a lot of suspends elements. Besides the exciting storyline, there are other four things that made me glued to the novel. The four things are...

1) The Glamourous Paris Surroundings

I've been to Paris twice, and I love the beautiful city. Paris is very chic, vogue, glamourous, and also romantic to me. I missed traveling to Paris. The last time I visited Paris was in 2006. Reading J'adore Paris reminded me of my vacation in Paris. I've been to most places that are mention in J'adore Paris. This makes it easy for me to imagine Lambert and other character's situations in the novel. The glamourous Paris surroundings really made me enjoyed reading this novel.

2) It Gives Me Knowledge About The Fashion Industry

As a fashion lover and a Fashion Marketing graduate, I am always fascinated and curious about the fashion industry. Lafleche's writing really gives me clear information about the fashion industry. The author describes A to Z about the fashion industry in J'adore Paris. Besides that, reading J'adore Paris makes me realize that producing fake designer goods is a threat and no-no to the fashion industry. As a consumer and fashion lover, we must not support fake designer goods.

3) Rikash's Character

My favorite character in J'adore Paris is Rikash. Rikash is Catherine Lambert's best friend and former assistant. To me, Rikash is a very adorable character. What I like most about Rikash is that he is very chic, fashionable, and also very knowledgable. He is very knowledgable in fashion, and also very skillful in espionage. Wow! A fashionista who is also a good spy. That is something awesome.

4) It Helps Me With My French Language

Although the novel was written in English, the author did add some French language in it. As a beginner in the French language, reading J'adore Paris helps me to practice my French. I also learned some new French words and phrases from J'adore Paris.

Overall, I rated J'adore Paris 7/10. To me, this novel is suitable for those who love fashion, Paris, and glamorous chic things. If you love the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, you will love J'adore Paris. For those who love fashion, Paris, and everything chic, I encourage you to read J'adore Paris. Trust me, you'll love it. It will also give you knowledge about the fashion industry.

Ok, that's all.  Thank you for reading this post and have a good day.

XoXo,

    1. Yeah, I am thinking about it too. Hollywood film makers should turn this novel into a movie. I would be fun to watch.

  15. I don't know why I thought this blog would be about one of my favorite perfumes by the same way. I guess "glued" should have been my clue. But the perfume and the novel does have the glitz and glamour in common.

    1. Correction: I don't know why I thought this blog would be about one of my favorite perfumes by the same name. I guess "glued" should have been my clue. But the perfume and the novel does have the glitz and glamour in common.
