Five Things I Learned In 2019
Hola amigas and amigos,
how are you guys doing? It's 25 December 2019 today. Happy Seasons Greetings to those who celebrate, and happy holidays. We only have one week left to 2020. Are you guys ready for a brand new year and adventure? So what are your new year resolutions?
Before I share with you my 2020 resolutions, let me share with you about my 2019 and all the life lessons I learned this year. I also have three questions for you guys at the end of this post and one 2020 trivia. So pls make sure you read this post till the end ^_^
Syukur Alhamdulillah, so far my 2019 is awesome. I learned new things, make new friends, travel to interesting places (in Malaysia and foreign countries), and experience new things in 2019. I learned a lot about life, love, and kindness in 2019. These are the things I'm gonna share with you guys in this post. I'm gonna share with you guys the 5 things that I learned in 2019. So let's not waste time, here are the five things that I learned in 2019...
#1 There's A Difference Between Being Kind And Being A Doormat
Being kind makes a person almost angelic. But being kind is not an easy thing, because there are still people who don't appreciate your kindness, would take you for granted, use you, treat you badly, and think you won't get angry at them if they mistreat you. In fact, they will keep on hurting you without even realizing it. I believe these are the five challenges that every kind-hearted people faced. As a small human being, I have to be honest that sometimes being kind is a dilemma for me. To be honest, I like being nice to people and be the reason someone is smiling. I love making others happy. But it also hurt when people mistreat me :'( And it hurts me more when the same person keeps on doing the same thing to me. I once heard one of my ex-colleagues said "it's ok to say this/that to Fadima. She won't get mad easily at you. Plus, she's not violent at all". To that ex-colleague of mine, if you are reading this, that hurts ok. Just because I am not the kind of person who easily shouts at you, it doesn't mean I don't have any feelings. I can also burst like a volcano or tiger at you if I lost my patience. In fact, I can also hurt you back with my bombastic words. Hahaha! Being hurt and mistreat by others makes me sometimes hate and angry at myself for being such a goodie. I once asked myself "Why are you so sweet girl? People don't treat you like a princess after all". I once lost my belief in kindness and tried to make myself a mean person. But being mean hurts me more. If makes people really hated me and called me a hypocrite person. Huh........dilemma, dilemma. In 2019, I learn, study, and read a lot about the art of kindness from novels and favorite celebrities. This year, I understand that there's a difference between being kind and being a doormat. Being kind means being confident and happy doing good things to other people and still knows your limit, while being a doormat means you are unconfident and simply allow others to use you. So this year, I chose to be kind and believe in kindness again. I believe that being kind makes a person beautiful. However, I still know my limit and I am not allowing others to use me for themselves. As a person who knows her limit, I choose who is suitable for me to share my kindness with and will be honest with people who hurt my feelings. I will tell you immediately if you say something that offended me. So these are the things I do to practice kindness.
#2 Look For The Good In Others
One of Audrey Hepburn's beauty tips, "for beautiful eyes, look for the good in others". Look for the good in others is one of the life lessons I learn in 2019. I learned and realized that everyone has their own strength and beauty, and also weaknesses. You need to open your heart if you want to get to know a person better. Do not think negative of a person and judge them easily. Plus, there's always a reason why people are acting this and that way. Yup, everyone is struggling with their own battle, so be kind to each other.
#3 Networking With People Who Have The Same Passion and Dream
I know the world is very competitive. We must compete with each other to be the winner, especially with people who have the same passion and dream. Everyone wants to be the best right? But, it is also important to make friends and networking with those who have the same passion and dream. This is an important life lesson I learned in 2019. Before this, I always had negative thoughts that people with the same passion and dream won't help me and being nice to me. They will probably torment me to make themselves the best. That's why before this I didn't join any bloggers/writers/artists community although I have been writing and drawing for more than eight years. I keep all the things love to myself and only share it with my close friends. This year I realized I was wrong. People with the same passion and dream won't hurt me and discourage me (only sick heads will do that). In fact, they help me to go further with my passion and dream. This year, I joined a lot of bloggers, writers, and artists communities on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I made loads of new friends with people who have the same passion and dream. Most of them are nice and awesome people. I am grateful for that. Thank you guys for bringing the light in me. You guys are awesome. One of my new year resolutions is to get to know my fellow bloggers, writers, and artists better. I hope we will be better friends in 2020. I also wish to meet some of my Malaysian fellow bloggers in person. Guys, if there's a gathering pls count me in. I would like to meet you guys in person, chit chat, and take selfies with you. Hehehe ^_^ Besides making friends, joining these communities also helps me to gain my confidence and brainstorm ideas with other writers, bloggers, and artists. I believe these are the magic for joining communities. I am looking for more communities to join in 2020. So anyone of you has suggestions? Pls, share your suggestion in the comment box below.
#4 Helping Other People To Achieve Their Goals Will Help You Achieve Yours Too
"Great people don't destroy each other, they walk together". When you networking with people who have the same passion and dream, you will eventually help them to achieve their goals and later, they and other people will help you to achieve yours too. That is something I learned from making friends and networking with people. I believe this life lesson is awesome. It helps you to move further with what you want. Insya'Allah fantasy will be a reality one day. Just keep on swimming and believe in beautiful things.
#5 Don't Just Read Your Friends' Facebook/Twitter/Instagram Updates To Stay In Touch With Them
Nowadays, we don't just stay in one place. We move from an old place to a new place, an old job to a new job. We make new friends at our new place/workplace. But we also would love to keep our old friends. Our busy schedule sometimes makes it hard for us to keep in touch with our old friends. So we used social media as an option/tool to keep in touch. We view and follow up with our friends' updates on their social media. But we hardly contact them. We think it would work that way. But actually, it doesn't work that way. That's the mistake I made all these years and that's the reason why I keep loosing some old friends. I can't blame my old pals if they don't invite me to their wedding, kenduri aqiqah anak, party, and reunion. Every human being has their own ego and love to be appreciated. By looking at other people's updates on their social media won't help you to stay in touch with them. You need to PM them once awhile (at least one month) and ask them how they're doing. That is the right way to keep in touch with friends. Asking a friend how they're doing makes them feel appreciated. Besides PM, you must also response to their PM (don't ghosted them), and make an effort to attend their invitations. This will help you keep friends.
So, these are the five life lessons I learned in 2019. So far, 2019 has been a beautiful year for me. I hope 2019 is a good year for you guys too. I pray that 2020 will be a better year for all of us. Insya'Allah. Aamiin.
Now for the three 2019 questions and 2020 trivia...
The 2019 questions...
1) How's your 2019?
2) What have you achieved this year? and
3) What are the lessons you learned this year?
The 2020 trivia
The first two things you see in the puzzle below will come to you in 2020. So pls check out the puzzle and tell me what are the first two things you see?
I see Netflix and success. Wow!!!!!!!!!! Does this mean the story I am writing now will be adapted into a movie/drama and will be shown on Netflix in 2020? I just say Insya'Allah and Aaamiin for that. This is just for fun ya guys. It's not necessarily that the first two things you see will happen to you in 2020. However, you can make this as your motivation and work hard for it ^_^
Ok'lah, that's all. I think this will probably be my last post for December and 2019. I am gonna focus on rebranding and redesign my blog. So stay tuned for Fadima Mooneira Blogspot in 2020. Last but not least, Happy New Year 2020.
Loads Of Love,

DeleteI Likes the last "lesson" very much. Meanwhile we have enough of social media. I thought I'd start creating some old-school videos but with YouTube's new rules I can pretty much forget it. I don't know if I can create videos to share them on patreon only? Will YouTube allow it?
ReplyDeleteThat one you have to ask YouTube manager. I'am not sure.
DeleteI used to be too kind and was a people pleaser basically a doormat. Thank goodness I’ve learned I can be kind and not be taken advantage of. Thank you for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteYes. I learned the same thing too. Let’s know our limitations.
