NOVEL REVIEW: Seduce Me At Sunrise By Lisa Kleypas
Eiyo dearies,
Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. Today, I would like to share a review of Lisa Kleypas's Seduce Me At Sunrise. Now let's begin with the author's bio...

ABOUT SEDUCE ME AT SUNRISE
Seduce Me At Sunrise (SMAS) is a historical romance novel and it was published in 2008. SMAS tells the story of a beautiful young woman named Winnifred Hathaway who is in love with a handsome and mysterious gypsy man named Kev Merripen. Kev is deeply in love with Winnifred too. He wants her as much as she wants him. But Kev is a man with mysterious origins. And he fears that the darkness of his past could crush the delicate and luminous Winnifred. So Kev refuses to show and admit his love for Winnifred.
At the beginning of the story, Winnifred suffers from nearly-fatal scarlet fever. She travels to Paris for treatment. Winnifred recovers and returns to London two years later. She still has feelings for Kev. Kev still has feelings for Winnifred too. But Kev is also still afraid to show and admit his love. And to Kev's surprise, Winnifred did not return to London alone. She returns with a handsome and seductive widower named Dr. Harrow. Dr. Harrow also has his eyes on the beautiful Winnifred Hathaway. So what will Kev do?
MY REVIEW
First, I have to be honest to you guys that SMAS is the first historical romance and Kleypas novel that I read. I'm very new to the historical romance genre and Kleypas novels.
Before I wrote this review, I did some research on SMAS and Kleypas. I was so thrilled that Kleypas and her novels have a fandom. And SMAS is part of and the second novel for the Hathaway series. I never heard of the Hathaway series before I bought this novel from my BFF, Maddie. The Hathaways series also have a fandom among readers and bookstagramers. The Hathaways series is a romantic saga of the Hathaway sibling - Leo, Amelia, Winnifred, Poppy, and Beatrix. The Hathaway series have five novels - Mine Till Midnight (Amelia's story), Seduce Me At Sunrise (Winnifred's story), Tempt Me At Twilight (Poppy's story), Married By Morning (Leo's story), and Love In The Afternoon (Beatrix's story).
I was also thrilled that the two protagonists - Winnifred and Kev were already famous among Kleypas's fans before SMAS was even published. These two protagonists also have their own fandom. I also found some illustrations and fanart of them on Instagram and Deviant Art. That's awesome. According to one reviewer, before SMAS, Winnifred and Kev had already appeared in Mine Till Midnight. They kinda stole readers' hearts in Mine Till Midnight. So readers were excited to read their story when SMAS was published. That's genius!
To me, SMAS is a very romantic and thrilling novel. The storyline is very intriguing. Kleypas has a strong POV for this novel. Reading this novel will make you wonder what will happen next? will Winnifred and Kev end up together? will they have their happily ever after?
Reading SMAS also makes me fall in love with the historical romance genre and Kleypas novels. I'm now planning to read all novels in the Hathaway series. All five Hathaway siblings have captured my heart. Reading SMAS makes me wanna know the Hathaway siblings more. Lisa Kleypas really describes her characters well.
Overall, SMAS is a brilliant romance novel. I'm giving it a 9/10. I also highly recommend this novel to those who like romantic stories and the historical romance genre. But I also need to be frank that this novel is not suitable for those who are below 18. Sorry teens. This novel has more than five romance and steamy sex scenes.
Ok, that's all for now. Before I end this post, let me ask my readers some questions...
1) Has anyone read Seduce Me At Sunrise? Or any novels in the Hathaway series? Or any Lisa Kleypas novels?
2) If yes, what are your opinions?
Thank you for reading my review. Hope to see you guys again soon.
XoXo,
Fadima Mooneira ^_^

DeleteIt sounds like you really enjoyed this historical romance novel! I'm not the biggest fan of steamy romances like these, but I do love my contemporary romance and I don't mind some smut in those or in the fantasy books I read. I've just never gotten into this particular genre. Maybe one day I'll find myself more interested - and when that day comes, I'll start with this series!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't into historical romance before I read SMAS. My bff influence me to like historical romance. Btw, historical romance is good to read. You should try this genre. I’m sure you will love it.

DeleteNo matter how hard I tried, I will fail in loving the romantic genre. I’m more the mystery, thriller and horror type of person hehe
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are the opposite of me. I fail to fall in love with thriller, sci-fi, action, and horror genre no matter how hard I tried. I only succeed in falling in love with the spy thriller genre.

DeleteRomantik novel ker hehehe ala kita ni memang malas bab nak baca novel tambah yang jiwang leleh hehehehe tapi nice lah review panjang lebar terbaik...
ReplyDeleteThank you for your compliment on my review. But seriously, I think you should avoid using the word ‘jiwang leleh’ when writing. It sounds unprofessional, uncultured, and derogatory.
