BOOKWORM INTERVIEW 15: WITH T.K KHAN (INDIE AUTHOR & GRAPHIC ARTIST)

Eiyo Fadneiras,

Welcome back to the Fadima Mooneira bookworm interview series. For today's episode, I'm interviewing an Asian-American indie author and graphic artist named T.K Khan. T.K Khan is one of my fellow authors on Instagram. We became friends early this year. We like to chat about books, stories, and brainstorm some ideas on creative writing together. She's a very friendly, cool, and supportive person. Ok, now let's check out T.K Khan's profile and the interview...

ABOUT T.K KHAN

The creative & artistic -T.K Khan (a.k.a Tanya)

Name: Tanya Khan

Pen Name: T.K. Khan

Occupation: Author, graphic artist, and a mom

Short Bio:

T.K. Khan was born in Karachi, Pakistan. Growing up in Chicago, she told her kindergarten teacher that she wanted to be an author and cobbler (not the dessert) after reading The Elves and the Shoemaker. Luckily, she decided to become an author. She still lives in Chicago with her husband, two daughters, and an overflowing bookcase.

THE INTERVIEW

1) When did you first start reading for pleasure?

I was three years old. I had just learned to read.

2) What was the first book you read?

This was the first book I read on my own when I was three. It was Disney's Cinderella.

3)Oh wow... I had that book too when I was a child. So what genre do you read?

What genre don't I read? I read a little bit of everything if it captures my attention. There is no one genre I stick to.

4) Do you judge a book by its cover?

I've read a lot of great books where I don't like the cover. I try not to let the cover sway me. But, there is something magical about a book cover with beautiful artwork.

5) What is your all-time favorite book/novel and why? Do you repeat read it?

My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. It's the ultimate rom-com with a happy ending. People still love it because love conquers all themes. And, who doesn't love happily ever after? I have repeatedly read it!

6) Oh that's awesome! Pride And Prejudice is one of my all-time favorite books too. So would you recommend your favorite book/novel to other bookworms?

I would recommend Pride and Prejudice.

7) Who is your favorite author?

I have two. Jane Austen and Rick Riordan.

8) What ambiance do you prefer for reading? Quiet at home? Or somewhere green and serene?

I can read in any environment. No matter where I am if I'm reading, a book will always grab my attention. It doesn't matter if it's a loud or quiet place in the book.

9) How's the reading culture in your country?

It's getting better but unfortunately, it's nowhere close to where it should be. People are starting to participate in book clubs more often. But, I think it's due to life and its obligations that people are reading considerably less in the United States. Also, before technology was at the height it is today, people turned to books for entertainment. Now we have multiple forms of entertainment and because of that people are reading less. Also, knowledge is now at your fingertips which makes looking things up in a book obsolete.

10) Do you have any ideas on how to improve the reading culture in your country?

I think one way to improve a country's reading culture is to prioritize education.

Ok, so these are all the questions I have for this interview. Thank you, T.K Khan, for spending your time with me, sharing your knowledge of books and the reading culture in your country. It's a pleasure to have you as a guest star on my blog today. As a fellow author, I wish you good luck and all the best in your writing career. I hope you'll become a very successful author in the future. Keep up your awesome work. You're doing great.

For those who are interested to participate in this bookworm interview and become a guest star on my blog, please feel free to email me at garnet.earthtiger@gmail.com. I'll email you the questions and instructions for this interview after you email me.

Ok, this is all for now. Thank you for reading. See you guys again in my next post.

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

    1. Oh really? Well, it depends on your interest/passion. If reading books is not your passion, of course you won’t remember your first book. Most bookworms remember their first read.

I love the point about not judging a book by its cover. I do this, but I need to stop! I could be missing out on some amazing books :)

    1. Hahaha.... I tried my best not to judge a book by its cover. But in the end books with attractive covers still capture my eyes. What to do? I actually believe that covers play an important role in book marketing. Plus, it tells readers what is inside the book.
