For those who are new here, the Book Heartthrob Profile is a series where I share my analysis and point of view on characters from novels that I've read. Today, I'm going to share my analysis of Leo Hathaway with you guys. Leo is the protagonist in Lisa Kleypas' Married By Morning. Now let's begin this analysis with Leo's profile.
LEO HATHAWAY'S PROFILE
NAME: Leo Hathaway/Lord Ramsay
AGE ESTIMATED: Early/mid 30's (33-35 years old)
NATIONALITY: British
OCCUPATION: Architect
HIS ROLE IN THE STORY: The protagonist
HIS GOALS: Leo wanted to find someone to marry, produced an heir, and saved his family home (the Ramsay House and estate)
HIS PERSONALITY
In the Hathaway series first book, Mine Till Midnight, Leo was portrayed as a troublemaker. He was a terrible drunkard and gambler who always caused trouble to his sisters. Leo became a drunkard and gambler after his fiancee, Laura passed away.
Leo recovered from his heartbreak in the second book, Seduce Me At Sunrise. In Tempt Me At Twilight (the third book), a young governess named Catherine Marks entered Leo's life. Leo once again became a happy person. He enjoyed teasing Catherine.
In Married By Morning, Leo realized that he was in love with Catherine. Because of Catherine, Leo became a very caring, loving, romantic, protective, and responsible man. Leo swore to protect Catherine from all the villains from her past.
HIS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Leo was a very handsome man. He had a tall masculine figure, fair complexion, bright blue eyes, and dark blonde hair that look almost like light brown. Leo was also a well-dressed gentleman.
HIS BACKSTORY
Leo was once a heartbroken man. Long before Leo met Catherine, he was very in love with a girl named Laura. Laura was a good friend to Leo's sisters~ Amelia and Winnifred Hathaway. Laura was beautiful and smart. Leo and Laura were also engaged at that time. But one day, Laura was diagnosed with scarlet fever. Three days after that, she passed away in Leo's arms.
After Laura passed away, Leo became a drunkard and a gambler. He lost hope to live. Leo also swore that he will never be in love again. To Leo, love is painful. But faith was kinder to Leo. And along came Catherine Marks.
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
Before I read Married By Morning, I never like Leo Hathaway's character. I thought Leo was a very childish and irresponsible guy compared to Cam Rohan and Harry Rutledge. I also thought that he was a very annoying and whiny guy. He liked to tease and quarrel with Catherine a lot.
But after I read Married By Morning, I started to like Leo Hathaway. I like the way Leo's character developed throughout the Hathaway series. Leo became a very responsible man in Married By Morning. I like the way Leo showed his love to Catherine. Leo loved Catherine with all his heart. She was his heart's desire. That was so sweet and romantic. And also like the way Leo proposed to Catherine towards the end of the story. Oops... I'm not going to spill the beans here. Sorry, you guys have to read the book if you want to know the way Leo proposed to Catherine ^_^
