ABOUT UNTUKMU CINTA

Untukmu Cinta belongs in the contemporary romance genre. The story followed a shy intelligent beauty named Orkid Abdullah. Orkid was admired for her brains, beauty, and adorable personality.

At the beginning of the story, Orkid was involved in a triangle romance. Orkid secretly liked her friend, Adam. Adam was charming, handsome, and his family was disgustingly rich. Adam was friendly to Orkid. But to Adam, Orkid was only a friend. Adam had feelings for Orkid's housemate and best friend, Dr. Eve. Oh, dear...

In chapter 5, Orkid met Datuk Arman. Arman was a super-rich businessman. He was also handsome, suave, kind-hearted, and hardworking. Arman fell in love with Orkid the first time he saw her. To Arman, the shy beauty is a very special and extraordinary person. He was willing to do everything to get her in his arms.

And at the same time, Orkid met her old friend, Ramadan. Ramadan was a simple dude. He was also the son of Orkid's high school teacher, Mrs. Latifah. Orkid was Mrs. Latifah's favorite student. Mrs. Latifah adored Orkid more than just her student. She wished to make Orkid her daughter-in-law. But Orkid was not interested in Ramadan. And Ramadan was not interested in Orkid either. Ramadhan was hiding a secret from his parents. Behind Ramadan's smile, there were tears. What was Ramadan hiding for his parents?

In chapter 35, Orkid got heartbroken. Adam finally confessed his feelings for Eve. And Eve returned Adam's love. In the next two chapters, the two lovebirds got engaged, and Orkid got fired from her job. Orkid was badly sad and heartbroken. First, she lost the man that she loves to her best friend, and second, she lost her job. Oh, dear... this was hard for Orkid. Orkid left Kuala Lumpur, and returned to her village in Raub, Pahang.

Later, Arman returned to Orkid's life. The suave gentleman helped Orkid to rebuild her confidence. He even helped Orkid to set up her own herbal business. Orkid was happy once again. She became more confident and charismatic.

Later, romance sparked between Arman and Orkid. They got married in chapter 53 and started a new adventure together. After the couples were married. Arman took Orkid to visit his hometown in Batu Pahat, Johor. At Batu Pahat, they met Arman's old family friends, Mr. Kamil and Mrs. Zahra. Mr. Kamil and Mrs. Zahra were husband and wife, and they owned a restaurant together. Arman used to work as a waiter at their restaurant when he was a teenager.

Mr. Kamil and Mrs. Zahra had a daughter named Zara. Zara was Orkid's high school junior. Zara did not like Orkid. To Zara, Orkid was a boyfriend stiller. Back in high school, Zara had a crush on her senior, Hadi, who is Orkid's batch. But Hadi was not interested in Zara. Hadi liked Orkid instead. That made Zara merely jealous of Orkid. Zara wanted to seek revenge on Orkid. The revengeful girl planned to ruin Orkid's life.

What was Zara planning to do to Orkid? Will Arman be able to save his wife?

MY REVIEW OF UNTUKMU CINTA

When I first opened this book, I thought it will be a long read for me. I thought I will be reading this book for two and a half months. Untukmu Cinta is a very thick novel with 680 pages. I believe it's the thickest Bahasa Malaysia and romance novel I ever read. But surprisingly, it only took me two and a half weeks to finish this book. That is because Untukmu Cinta has a very intriguing plot and storyline. All chapters in this novel are intriguing. So this novel is a  page-turner indeed.

Dr. Evelyn Rose describes Arman as a suave masculine hunk with an adorable smile ^_^. So I fan cast South Korean hunky actor, Park Shi Hoo as Datuk Arman (Image: wiki.d-addicts.com)

Besides the intriguing storyline, this novel also has good characters, moral messages, and general knowledge. I like all the characters that Dr. Evelyn created for Untukmu Cinta, especially Arman. Arman is such a sweetheart and a great guy. Orkid is lucky to have him. He helps Orkid to rebuild her confidence and set up her own business. Arman makes Orkid a stronger woman than the woman she already was. What Arman did for Orkid is the most romantic thing a man can do for the woman that he loves. Arman is willing to face the storm with Orkid. Arman reminded me of Cam Rohan in Mine Till Midnight (a historical romance novel by Lisa Kleypas).  Insya-Allah, I will feature Arman in my Book Heartthrob Profile series since I had a crush on the character while I was reading the novel ^_^

I also like the way Orkid's character develops. Orkid was portrayed as a very shy woman at the beginning of the story. But when Arman enters her life, Orkid transforms into a strong, charismatic, and confident woman. I like this character arc and I can really fill it.

Dr. Evelyn Rose describes Orkid as a petite exotic beauty. So I fan cast Princess Switch's Vanessa Hudgens as Orkid (Image: seventeen.com)

I also like the way Dr. Evelyn includes moral messages and general knowledge on herbal and Malay traditional medicine in Untukmu Cinta. Besides romance, this story is also about family, nature, the environment, herbal, and Malay traditional medicine. I learned a lot about herbal and Malay traditional medicine while reading Untukmu Cinta. To me, Untukmu Cinta is not just a romance novel. But it's also an intellectual novel indeed.

Overall, this novel is a brilliant read. I really enjoyed reading it. I believe it's the best Bahasa Malaysia romance novel I ever read. Everything in this novel makes me satisfied. So I'm giving this novel a 10/10. It deserves a full mark after all. I highly recommend this novel to my fellow bookworms. Untukmu Cinta is a must-not-miss novel, guys. So please don't miss out. However, I need to be honest that Untukmu Cinta has some mild adult scenes. So I believe this novel is not suitable for those under 15. Teenagers under 15 need to ask their parents' permission first to read Untukmu Cinta.

Ok, this is all I want to say for Dr. Evelyn Rose's Untukmy Cinta. So has anyone read Untukmu Cinta by Dr. Evelyn Rose? If yes, what are your opinions of the novel? Did you guys enjoy reading it?

Ok, this is all for now. Thank you for reading my review. Bonne weekend ^_^

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

    1. High five babe! Dr. Evelyn is my favorite Malaysian novelist. Her novels are international and all characters she created are not the kind of people who are too good to be true.
