BOOK HEARTTHROB PROFILE: DATUK ARMAN ARFAD FROM UNTUKMU CINTA
Eiyo Fadneiras,
Welcome back to the Fadima Mooneira Book Heartthrob Profile series. In this month's episode, I'm going to share my analysis of Datuk Arman Arfad, the book heartthrob created by Dr. Evelyn Rose in her latest novel Untukmu Cinta (For You, My Love).
Now let's begin this analysis with Datuk Arman's profile...
DATUK ARMAN ARFAD PROFILE
My illustration on Datuk Arman Arfad (Image: My Artstagram @fmooneira_art)
NAME: Datuk Arman Arfad Bin Hishamuddin
AGE: 41 years old (It was mentioned by the author)
NATIONALITY: Malaysian
OCCUPATION: Business Man & Stock Investor
HIS ROLE IN THE STORY: He was the love interest of the female protagonist, Orkid Abdullah.
HIS GOALS: Arman wanted to marry Orkid and make her happy.
HIS PERSONALITY:
The author portrayed Arman as a very hardworking, enthusiastic, responsible, and passionate man. Arman was a very serious man at work. He was very disciplined, committed, and dedicated to his task. Most of Arman's employees were scared of him. But they loved and respected him for his good leadership. And Arman was also very kind to his employees even though he's a serious leader.
The author showcased Arman's romantic and loving side when Orkid entered his life. Arman loved Orkid dearly. He wanted to make her his wife. Besides making her his wife, he also wanted Orkid to be happy and strong. Orkid was a very vulnerable character at the beginning of the story. She was always sad. It was all because she had an unrequited love for her BFF, Adam who was in love with her housemate, Dr. Eve.
Arman healed Orkid's broken heart after Adam proposed to Dr. Eve. He made her strong and confident. Arman also helped Orkid to achieve her dream to become a herbal entrepreneur. I believe what Arman did for Orkid was the most romantic thing ever. From shy and vulnerable, Orkid became strong and confident. All because of Arman's love for her. Omg! I'm so touched!
Besides being hardworking and romantic, Arman was also a very humble guy. Even though he was a successful business tycoon, Arman was still able to put his feet on the ground. When Arman first met Orkid, he doesn't want her to know about his wealth. Arman wanted Orkid to see him as an ordinary guy. He also doesn't want people to address him as 'Datuk'. To my foreign friends, Datuk is a title. It's similar to the title 'Sir' in England.
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Dr. Evelyn Rose portrayed Arman as a tall dark and handsome hunk. He had a tall and masculine figure. Arman liked spending his free time at the gym and doing fitness workouts. He was a health enthusiast. Arman had tanned Asian skin, dark wavy hair, and two sparkling dark brown eyes. Arman was also a well-dressed man. He was suave and elegant.
I fan cast South Korean hunky veteran actor, Park Shi Hoo as Arman. I believe Park Shi Hoo has the same suave and elegant vibes as Arman. This gorgeous actor is also tall and masculine. Plus, he has perfect six-pack abs. So he is perfect to play Arman.
HIS BACKSTORY
Arman grew up in poverty. His father, Mr. Hishamuddin once had a good job as a manager. But that did not last long. Mr. Hishamuddin was diagnosed with diabetes and lost his job. Since that day, Arman's mother, Mrs. Shafiqah had to work.
Mrs. Shafiqah worked hard for the sake of her family. Later the family's neighbor, Mrs. Zahra made a bad rumor about Mrs. Shafiqah. Mrs. Zahra told Mr. Hishamuddin that his wife is having an affair with her co-worker. Mr. Hishamuddin believed the rumor. He was angry. Mr. Hishamuddin brutally beat up his wife. Their marriage became bitter.
Mrs. Shafiqah cannot stand her husband's brutal attitude toward her. She later made a bitter decision and left the family. Mr. Hishamuddin's health got worsened. Arman later had to work part-time for his family and his own survival. Arman was only a high school boy at that time. He never knew why his mother left him and his father. He also never knew that his mother was mentally and physically tortured by his father.
When Mr. Hishamuddin was on his death bed, Arman traveled to Shah Alam to meet his mother. Mrs. Shafiqah was already remarried at that time, and she had a baby daughter. Mrs. Shafiqah told her son not to go looking for her again. She wanted to start a new life with her new family. However, Mrs. Shafiqah told Arman that she still loved him and he will always be her son no matter what. Mrs. Shafiqah also told Arman that she will always pray for his success.
As a good son, Arman obeyed his mother's wishes even though it was hard for him. Later, Mr. Hishamuddin passed away. Arman just graduated from high school at that time. Arman left his hometown, Batu Pahat, and went to Singapore to become a construction worker. And after a few months of being a construction worker in Singapore, Arman returned to Malaysia and entered college. From that day, Arman worked hard to achieve what he has now.
At the beginning of the story, the author portrayed Arman as a man who doesn't believe in love. It was all because of his family background. Arman only started to believe in love when he met Orkid. He fell in love at first sight with the shy beauty.
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
I believe Arman is one of the sweetest self-made-man created by a romance author. This character is a total sweetheart. Arman loved Orkid dearly. And he made her a stronger person. He helped her to achieve her dreams and made her a confident woman. This is what I like most about Arman. His love for Orkid made their puzzle complete. This character is a great guy.
I also like that the author portrayed Arman as a very hardworking, enthusiastic, responsible, and humble guy. I believe these are positive personalities that all authors must put in their character.
The author blends this character well with the story's plot. Arman has a good character arc in the story. This made me like this character even more. I had a crush on this character while I was reading Untukmu Cinta. Oh, how I wish this guy is real ^_^
