FAIL MERAH BAB 4: SEBUAH FAIL BERWARNA MERAH

How are you guys feeling today? I hope you guys are feeling good because I'm feeling happy and grateful today. Wanna know why? Ok, now let's share the good news...

Yesterday, the 29th of August 2022, was a memorable day for me. This date is a date for me to remember forever. Insya-Allah ^_^ My first novel, Fail Merah was released into the world. Syukur Alhamdulillah. Yay! My dream to publish my own novel has finally come true. I'm now not just an authorpreneur. I'm also a novelist. Again, syukur alhamdulillah ^_^ So in today's post, I would like to introduce Fail Merah and share five interesting facts about the novel with you guys.

First of all, Fail Merah belongs in the adult romance genre. But besides romance, the story is also about family, friendship, revenge, diversity, and integrity. Fail Merah is written in the Bahasa Melayu language. In English, Fail Merah means Red File.  This novel consists of 460 pages, and the cover was designed by a Malaysian digital art designer named Dawid Enoch. Dawid Enoch is very talented in digital art. You guys can check out his works by visiting his Instagram page @dawid_enoch. You guys will be amazed by his talent. Fail Merah has already received thumbs up from Malaysia's brain & beauty icon, Dr. Soo Wincci, and indie thriller novelist, Khairul Naim.

Fail Merah is a self-publish novel. But even though it's self-publish, this novel still has an ISBN bar code and a COPYWRIGHT CONTROL.  And since this novel is self-publish, it is still not available at any bookstores in Malaysia yet. Emil Muhayat had a good life. He had a loving father named Mr. Muhayat, a caring mother named Mrs. Asra, and an adorable little sister named Emilia. But unfortunately, this good life doesn't last long for Emil and the Muhayats. 

When Emil was 17, Mr. Muhayat passed away. According to the doctor, Mr. Muhayat died of a sudden heart attack. Emil did not believe the doctor. Mr. Muhayat was a very healthy man. How come he had a sudden heart attack? Was there a secret Mr. Muhayat had been hiding from his family?

One month after Mr. Muhayat's death, Emil and his family received another shocking news. They were visited by a police officer named Mr. Sabrin. Mr. Sabrin told Mrs. Asra and Emil that the late Mr. Muhayat did a terrible crime when he was alive. Oh dear... how can this be true? Emil had a hard time believing what he had heard. Emil knew and always believe that his father is a man of integrity. How could a man of integrity do such a thing? This is impossible, Emil thought.

The news spread fast. It made the late Mr. Muhayat the most hated person in town. Mrs. Asra, Emil, and Emilia also became the most hated family by the townspeople. They were forced to move to another town.

One night while Emil was cleaning his father's home office, he found a mysterious file. The file was heavy and it was red in color. And in the file, there was information about a man named Redzwan Yusof. According to the red file, Redzwan Yusof was the culprit of the crime that Mr. Muhayat was accused of. 

Redzwan Yusof! Emil will always remember that name. Emil swore to search for Redzwan Yusof. He also swore to avenge his father's death and clear his name...

13 years have passed by...

Emil is now 30 years old, he's all grown up, and has become a diplomat. The man he was searching for is not far from him. Redzwan Yusof is his big boss now.

At his workplace, Emil meets a beautiful young woman named Dahlia Jamilah. Dahlia is also one of Redzwan Yusof's head sceretaries. Emil tries to seduce and get close to Dahlia just to investigate his lifetime enemy. But later, he falls in love with the kind-hearted beauty. Dahlia's innocence, kindness, and sincerity make Emil believe in love and beautiful things again.

Emil and Dahlia become husband and wife in the middle of the story. The newlyweds leave a happy life together until Emil finds out that Dahlia's father was also involved in the murder of his father. Emil suddenly returns to his dark revengeful side again. Between love and revenge, which one will Emil choose?

FIVE INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT FAIL MERAH

#1 FAIL MERAH IS NOT A SPY THRILLER NOVEL

Before Fail Merah was published, most of my family members and close friends were asking me if this novel is going to be a spy thriller because of the title. My answer is no, guys. Fail Merah doesn't belong in the spy thriller genre even though the title sounds like it. Fail Merah is an adult romance novel with dark vibes. The color theme for Fail Merah is crimson red and black. FYI, I'm not a fan of flowery titles. I know most Bahasa Melayu romance novels have flowery titles. And believe it is ok and cool to have a novel title that sounds different from other novels in the same genre. After all, Malaysia's current no.1 romance novelist, Anjell also has her novels with titles that didn't sound so flowery such as Dheo's, King Haidar, and Dr. Alpha Male. Fail Merah has to be a romance novel since I choose to be a romance author. The romance genre is my favorite genre to read, writing romantic stories is my forte, and I also brand myself as an expert in romance fiction. 

#2 MY MAN-CRUSH & GIRL-CRUSH ARE MY MAIN INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION TO WRITE THIS STORY

Remy Hii & IU ~ my main inspiration & motivation for Fail Merah

Ok, this may sound crazy. But to be honest, to see Remy Hii and IU as an on-screen couple has always been my dream. But unfortunately, Remy Hii and IU are actors from two different industries. Remy Hii is an actor in Hollywood and Australian entertainment, while IU is an actress in Hallyu entertainment. So to see Remy and IU on the same screen is not going to happen immediately for me even though I believe it is not impossible since both of them are Asians. Who knows? Hopefully, right? Hehehe ^_^

So to make this dream half come true, I decided to write Fail Merah and created the two main characters after my man-crush and girl-crush. Yep, I created Emil after Remy Hii and Dahlia after IU. Remy Hii and IU are my main inspiration to write Fail Merah. Remy Hii and IU also are my no.1 motivation to finish the story and get this novel published. And syukur alhamdulillah, this motivation really helps me in my writing journey.

#3 FAIL MERAH PROMOTES DIVERSITY & IT IS GEARED TOWARD ALL MALAYSIAN

Fail Merah's main scene setting is Putrajaya, Malaysia. Malaysia is a country of many races and religions. And since Malaysia is Fail Merah's main scene setting, this story promotes diversity as well. Not all characters in Fail Merah are Malays. They are all people of different races and religions. Even the two main characters, Emil and Dahlia are not pure Malays. Emil is a Malay mixed with Chinese Borneo, while Dahlia is a Malay mixed with Chinese and Champa descent. Plus, Emil has a BFF named Jasper Teoh who is a Chinese-Malaysian. And Dahlia has an adopted sister named Cempaka Sari who is originally an African from Sudan. 

Since Fail Merah promotes diversity, this novel is geared toward all Malaysians. It means non-Malays (Chinese-Malaysian, Indian-Malaysian, Eurasian, Sabahan & Sarawakian) are also in the target market for Fail Merah.  Plus, most of the characters' dialogues are written in English.

#4 I DID & LEARNED MORE THAN JUST WRITING FOR FAIL MERAH

FYI, I started writing Fail Merah in 2020, during the beginning of the pandemic. I know I took quite a long time to get this novel published. Most authors get their novels published in less than one year. It's because I did not just write the story. I also edited the story myself. And I even do the layout design for this novel myself. I did work with a book critique for Fail Merah. After the book critique had done her job, she returned the manuscript to me and I edited it based on her comment (but not all :P) After I finished editing my story, I started doing the layout design myself. After I finished doing the layout design, I searched for a graphic designer to work with for the cover design. I'm grateful that my friend recommended Dawid Enoch. He's a good person to work with ^_^ After that, I applied for an ISBN bar code, Copyright control label,  and searched for a printing company to work with.

Umm... you see... I did more than just writing. I also learned and did most of the production process myself. This is why Fail Merah means a lot to me. I put my infinity% enthusiasm and courage into it. Without my enthusiasm and courage, Fail Merah won't be here today. And this is also why 29 August is a date I must remember forever. I must celebrate Fail Merah's anniversary every year. Insya-Allah.

And besides writing and production, I also set up my own publishing company, Fadneira Imaginative Empire (FIE) to get Fail Merah published. Having my own publishing company is also another dream come true for me. I hope to publish more books after Fail Merah under FIE. And I hope to make FIE a successful publishing & creative content company and help creative & imaginative young Malaysians achieve their dreams. Insya-Allah. But at this moment, FIE will only publish books that I write. Insya-Allah, when I gain more and more experience in the bookish industry, I will open opportunities for other writers to publish their works with FIE. Please pray that I will become successful as an authorpreneur so that I can help other people as well ^_^

#5 FAIL MERAH'S EPILOGUE HAS THREE HINTS ON MY FUTURE WIPS

Fact number 5 is not a spoiler, guys. I just want to share that Fail Merah's epilogue will give you guys three hints of stories that I will write after this. I would probably write a romance story of Dahlia's cousin, Maya Juhara with a South Korean guy. I would also write Emil's younger sister, Emilia's romance story with her love interest, Ashraf. And I would also write the second part of Emil & Dahlia's love story. However, I need your support for Fail Merah first. Fail Merah must be selling like hotcakes for me to write these stories in the future. So please, guys. Your support for Fail Merah is highly needed and it will be highly appreciated. Besides my stories, Fail Merah also needs to be selling like hotcakes for Fadneira Imaginative Empire to publish books from other authors and create opportunities ^_^
