NOVEL REVIEW: REMINDERS OF HIM BY COLLEEN HOOVER

Eiyo Fadneiras,

Fadima Mooneira is back with a brand new novel review. I will share my review of Colleen Hoover's Reminders Of Him for today's post. Now, let's begin this review with Colleen Hoover's bio...

ABOUT COLLEEN HOOVER

Colleen Hoover (a.k.a CoHo) is now one of the hottest novelists in the book industry. She is now the #1 New York Times bestselling novelist and has published 22 novels and some novellas.

CoHo has already won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance three years in a row- Confess (2015), It Ends With Us (2016), and Without Merit (2017). The award-winning novel, Confess was adapted into a seven-episode online series. CoHo's novels fall into the new adult and young adult contemporary romance genres. CoHo now lives in Texas with her husband and three sons.

ABOUT REMINDERS OF HIM

Reminders Of Him (ROH) falls in the new adult romance genre. The story follows a young woman named Kenna Rowan. At the beginning of the story, Kenna is released from prison after five years. She returns to her late boyfriend's hometown hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter, Diem. Diem is now living with Kenna's late boyfriend's parents, Grace and Patrick Landry.

The Landrys are still heartbroken with Scotty's death (Kenna's late boyfriend). They are still blaming Kenna for their son's death. Therefore, Kenna is forbidden from seeing Diem. The Landrys also do not want Diem to know about her mother's existence.

The only person who hasn't closed the door completely on Kenna is Scotty's best friend, Ledger Ward. Ledger tries to help Kenna to reunite with Diem. As their friendship grows stronger, Kenna and Ledger start to have romantic feelings for each other. Ledger is more determined to help Kenna achieve her one and only goal. He also wants to help Kenna heal herself.

But if anyone discovers Ledger and Kenna's relationship, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them. So, is there hope for Kenna to reunite with Diem? Will the Landrys forgive Kenna?

MY REVIEW OF REMINDERS OF HIM

ROH is the first novel from CoHo that I read. I heard of CoHo from some of my fellow bookworms at the Romance Book Lovers Club on Facebook. My fellow bookworms were geeking about CoHo novels. Chatting with my fellow bookworms about CoHo novels motivated me to venture into the world of Colleen Hoover.

I'm glad and grateful that I've read ROH. ROH is a very beautiful new adult romance novel. I believe it's one of the best Josei fiction I've ever read. The story is so beautiful and touching. It touches my heart deeply. The story is about kindness and forgiveness.

I also like CoHo's writing style in ROH. She uses POV 1 in her storytelling. It makes me able to feel Kenna and Ledger deeply. I feel sad and sorry for Kenna while reading ROH. Scotty's death was not Kenna's fault. Kenna was just unlucky. She must not be blamed for it. Kenna was only 21 years old at that time. She was scared and don't know what to do.

Besides her writing style, I also like the way CoHo crafted her characters for this novel. All characters are crafted beautifully. They all are compelling and make-believe characters with their strengths and vulnerabilities.

As an avid reader of romance fiction, I do admit that ROH is a bit different from all the romance novels I've read and liked. ROH is not a modern-day fairytale romance story with an alpha male hero in it. The story is more related to the reality of life. However, the story has deep meaning in it. And that makes ROH a beautiful novel to read.

Overall, I rate this novel 10/10. I highly recommend Reminders Of Him to my fellow bookworms who are into the romance genre. Trust me, you guys are going to love this novel. It will touch your heart deeply. I also highly recommend other CoHo novels (even though I've only read one :P) to my fellow bookworms who haven't ventured into the world of Colleen Hoover yet. Trust me, guys, once you read a CoHo novel, you will want to read more of her works. However, I need to be honest that ROH has some steamy romance scenes in it. So this novel is not suitable for those who are under 18. Sorry teenagers ^_^

Reading ROH makes me a new member of the CoHo fandom. I want to read more of CoHo's novels after this. So those who are senior members of the CoHo fandom, please recommend me any books by CoHo. FYI, I already got All Your Perfects on my bookshelf, and I'll be reading it soon. Hehehe ^_^

Ok, so this is my review of Reminders Of Him by Colleen Hoover. Thank you for visiting my blog again. I hope you guys enjoyed this review. I'll see you guys again in my next post.

Last but not least, Merry Christmas to my Christian friends. I hope you guys will have a good celebration with family and loved ones. Take care.

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

  8. It's bugging me that I don't know if Grace and Patrick Landry adopted Diem or if Kenna signed away her legal parental rights. Did either of those two things happen?

    1. Jenna wants the Landrys to adopt Diem. But the couples signed away Kenna’s legal parental rights. They don’t want her to be near Diem.
