BOOK HEARTTHROB PROFILE: RHYS WINTERBORNE FROM MARRYING WINTERBORNE
Eiyo Fadneiras,
Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. How are you guys feeling today? I hope you guys are feeling excited to check out today's post. It's because the Fadima Mooneira Book Heartthrob Profile series is back with another swoon-worthy book heartthrob. Yay!!! ^_^
For this month's episode, I'm going to share my analysis of Rhys Winterborne. Rhys Winterborne is a book heartthrob created by Lisa Kleypas for one of her A-List historical romance novels, Marrying Winterborne.
Rhys Winterborne is now my top five favorite book heartthrobs. I really had a crush on this character while I was reading the novel. In fact, I still have a crush on him now. This character is so hard to forget. Rhys Winterborne is also one of LK fans' most beloved book heartthrobs. Ok, let's begin this analysis with Rhy Winterborne's profile...
ABOUT RHYS WINTERBORNE
NAME: Rhys Winterborne
AGE: 31 years old
NATIONALITY: Welsh (He is from Wales)
OCCUPATION: Department Store Owner/Businessman
HIS ROLES IN THE STORY: The male protagonist & the love interest to the female protagonist, Lady Helen Ravenel.
HIS GOALS:
Rhys Winterborne is a common-born and the son of a Welsh grocer. But his savage ambition and hard work have brought him vast wealth and success. Rhys is now the owner of the largest department store in London. The department store is called Winterborne.
However, London society is still not looking highly at Rhys. It's all because of his family background. And Rhys is determined to change London society's perception. All he needs to do is marry a blue-blooded woman. This is Rhys' goal at the beginning of the story. And Lady Helen Ravenel is perfect for him. She's beautiful and blue-blooded. Helen loves Rhys too.
But towards the end of the story, Rhys changes his mind. It's not a rank in the society that he wants. It's Helen that he wants. Her! Only her. It doesn't matter to him that she is not blue-blooded and the daughter of his enemy. All that matters to Rhys is that Helen is the only woman that he loves. And he wants her as his wife. He wants to marry her for love. Not for a place in the society. Auwww!!!!!!!
HIS PERSONALITY
Kleypas portrayed Rhys as a very romantic and loving hero. He loves Helen with all his heart. And she is the only important thing for him no matter what. And I believe this is the main reason why most female readers (including me ^_^) have a crush on Rhys after reading Marrying Winterborne. He is such a sweetheart and has the qualities of every women's dream guy.
Besides loving and romantic, Rhys is also portrayed by Kleypas as a very hardworking and courageous man. He has strong integrity in him. He is also very kind-hearted, forgiving, generous, and likes helping those who are in need. And the no.1 thing that I like about Rhys is that he is a man who sticks to his words. I'm glad that Rhys did not change his mind at all about Helen after he finds out the truth about her. His feelings for her are so strong. Nothing can take his love away for Helen. Oh, what a man! ^_^
These are the reasons why Rhys is one of the best book heartthrobs created by Lisa Kleypas. Ladies, if you meet a guy like Rhys Winterborne, don't ever let him go. It's not easy to find a guy like Rhys in this world. This is also a reminder for myself ^_^
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Rhys Winterborne is a very good-looking man. He is tall, all-masculine, and handsome. He has black hair and dark coffee eyes. He is dreamily looking. And he is also a suave dapper hunk ^_^
Most LK fans fan casted Welsh actor, Tom Ellis as Rhys Winterborne. And I 100% agree with them. I believe Tom Ellis matches the description of Rhy Winterborne. Plus, he is also very suave. So Tom is perfect for the role.
HIS BACKSTORY
Rhys Winterborne is the son of a Welsh grocer. He is a common-born boy with big dreams. Rhys' dreams motivate him to work hard. His savage ambition and hard work make him a successful businessman.
Even though Rhys is rich and successful, society is still looking down on him because of his family background. Rhys is determined to change society's mind. All he needs to do is marry a blue-blooded woman. Once Rhys scores himself a blue-blooded wife, his children, and future generations will be blue-blooded too. Only then society won't be looking down on the Winterbornes. This is what Rhys thought at the beginning of the story.
Rhys and Helen meet in Cold-Hearted Rake (the first novel in LK's The Ravenel series). Yep, Rhys Winterborne was already introduced to readers in the first Ravenel novel. Marrying Winterborne is the second novel in The Ravenel series. Rhys is introduced to Helen by his best friend, Devon Ravenel. Devon is also Helen's cousin. Helen nurses Rhys back to health after his traumatic train accident. Rhys later falls in love with Helen. She is kind-hearted, gentle, elegant, and very beautiful.
Rhys proposes to Helen towards the end of Cold-Hearted Rake. But they have a terrible fight after the engagement. So Helen's sister-in-law, Kathleen brakes off their engagement. In the epilogue of Cold-Hearted Rake, Helen realizes that what she did to Rhys was wrong. She still loves him. And she knows that Rhys loves her too.
So at the beginning of Marrying Winterborne, Helen went to see Rhys to clear things up. The couple get back together and they even have one steamy romantic moment. Oh wow! Rhys and Helen promise to be together forever no matter what.
But in the middle of Marrying Winterborne, Helen finds out that she is not a true Ravenel by blood. Her late mother once had an affair with a man named Albion Vance. And from the affair, they had her. Not being blue-blooded is not Helen's only problem. Albion Vance is also Rhys' enemy. Can Rhys accept Helen once he finds out about her dark secrets? Helen is scared to tell Rhys about it.
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
Rhys Winterborne is now listed as one of my top five favorite book heartthrobs. I believe Rhys is one of the best male leads that Lisa Kleypas has ever created. He is definitely a swoon-worthy alpha male hero. He has all the qualities of an alpha male. Rhys is courageous, brave, confident, intelligent, quick-witted, charming, responsible, hard-working, kind-hearted, and generous. And most important, he is a man who sticks to his words. These are also the qualities women want in men. Hehehe ^_^
Besides being a good partner to Lady Helen, Rhys is also kind to his sisters-in-law. I like that he helps Lady Pandora (Helen's younger sister) to achieve her dreams as a board game designer. I also like that he takes Charity (Helen's half-little sister) as his daughter and changes her name to Carys Winterborne. I believe if most men are like Rhys Winterborne, the world will definitely be a better place. Rhys Winterborne is every women's dream guy. Am I right, ladies? Hehehe ^_^
Ok, so this is my analysis of Rhys Winterborne from Marrying Winterborne. He is another crush-worthy book heartthrob to swoon your heart, ladies. I highly recommend most romance readers to read Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas. Trust me, guys, you will love the story and you will fall in love with Rhys Winterborne. However, this novel has some steamy romantic scenes that are not suitable for those who are under 18.
Before I end this post, I would like to ask my readers some related questions...
1) Have you read Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas?
2) If yes, what are your opinions of Rhys Winterborne?
3) Did you have a crush on this character while you were reading the novel?
4) Have you read all novels in The Ravenel series?
5) If yes, who is your favorite Ravenel hero?
I only have read four novels from The Ravenel series - Cold-Hearted Rake, Marrying Winterborne, Devil In Spring, and Devil In Disguise. From these four novels, I can say that Rhys Winterborne is my favorite Ravenel hero. I also like Devon Ravenel from Cold-Hearted Rake and Gabriel St. Vincent from Devil In Spring. But not as much as I like Rhys Winterborne. I did not have a crush on Keir MacRae from Devil In Disguise while I was reading the novel. I don't know why Keir failed to capture my heart. Hehehe :P Btw, I hope will like the three heroes from the three Ravenel novels that I'm going to read soon.
Ok, this is all for now. Thank you for reading this post. I'll see you guys again in my next post. Insya-Allah.
XoXo,
Fadima Mooneira ^_^
