Last June, I shared my review of Lisa Kleypas' Hello Stranger on this blog. So for this month's Book Heartthrob Profile episode, I'm going to feature Ethan Ransom. He is the book heartthrob in Hello Stranger. Now, let's not waste time and begin this post with Ethan Ransom's profile...
ABOUT ETHAN RANSOM
NAME: Ethan Ransom
AGE: 29 years old (It was mentioned in the book)
NATIONALITY: British (But by origin, he's half Irish and half English)
OCCUPATION: He was a detective turned secret agent/spy.
HIS ROLES IN THE STORY: The male protagonist & the love interest to the female protagonist, Dr. Garrett Gibson.
HIS GOALS:
As a secret agent, Ethan always believes that he will have a dark fate just like his beginning. Ethan also believes that he won't be able to escape his fate. But along came, Dr. Garrett Gibson. Ethan is captivated by the bold and beautiful Garrett. To Ethan, Garrett is the most extraordinary woman he's ever known. He can't resist her. And he wants to have a future with her. But is that possible?
HIS PERSONALITY
Ethan's personality is as dark as the plot of Hello Stranger. Ethan is a lost soul hero. He's a man who breaks every rule. He is as gallant as he is secretive. Ethan is also a rumored assassin whose true loyalties are a mystery.
Ethan is actually a Ravenel by-blown spurned. His biological father was Edmund Ravenel/the late Earl of Trenear. The late Earl had an affair with an Irish prostitute during his younger days. From the affair, they had Ethan. As a young man who grows up without his father, Ethan has no interest in polite society. He even doesn't believe in love (that was before he met Dr. Garrett Gibson). And Ethan does not want to have anything to do with the Ravenels.
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Ethan is a very handsome man. His dark good looks are too striking to ignore. His hair is dark. And his eyes are midnight blue in color with black rims. Ethan has an athletic form. He is tall, masculine, and well-proportioned. Ethan has a lean face. His mouth is firm and distinctly edged. Ethan also has dimples when he smiles. But he doesn't realize that until Garrett tells him ^_^
Ethan's most distinguishing feature is his nose. His nose has a slightly thickened bridge as if it had once been broken. Well, Ethan once breaks his nose while he was working as a detective. And there's a funny story behind it. You guys have to read Lisa Kleypas' Hello Stranger if you want to know how Ethan breaks his nose. Hehehe ^_^
HIS BACKSTORY
As an illegitimate child who grows up without his father, Ethan has a lot of hatred in his heart. He has angst. And he is revengeful.
When Ethan was a kid, his mother continued her affair with Edmund Ravenel (the late Earl of Trenear and Ethan's biological father). From the affair, Ethan observed that his late father never care or even love his mother. Yep, he treated her like an object. The way the late Earl treated his mistress, made Ethan hates him. Besides the late Earl, Ethan also hates the Ravenels. He does not want to have anything to do with them. He even refuses to admit that he is also part of the Ravenel family.
Ethan only believes in love after Dr. Garrett Gibson enters his life. She is the woman who heals his heart. Because of Garrett, Ethan starts to open his heart to love and kindness.
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
Oh wow! I love this character a lot! I had a crush on him while I was reading Hello Stranger. In fact, I still have a crush on him now. Hehehe ^_^
Ethan Ransom is a very sexy AF and swoon-worthy hero. He is very manly, romantic, caring, and protective. His mysterious and enigmatic vibes are so charming to me. I believe this character is really well-crafted. His personality suits the vibes of this story.
Ethan is a character that I can relate to Emil Muhayat, the male lead in my first novel, Fail Merah. Like Ethan, Emil is also a lost soul hero with a dark past. Both of them grow up with loads of angst and revenge. And these two heroes do not believe in love before they meet the love of their life.
And the way Kleypas created Ethan's chemistry with Garrett is so captivating. It makes you fall in love with these two love birds. I believe Ethan and Garrett are one of the best couples in romance fiction. Their love and feelings towards each other are so strong, pure, and sincere. I totally can feel them. And it makes this story a perfect swoon-worthy read.
Ok, so this is my analysis of Ethan Ransom. He is the book heartthrob created by Lisa Kleypas for one of her bestselling historical romance novels, Hello Stranger. Hello Stranger is a good romance novel to read. It's very romantic and very swooning. I highly recommend you guys to read Hello Stranger especially if you're into the historical romance genre and want to know more about Ethan Ransom. Hehehe ^_^
