I know it's been quite a while. Did anyone miss me? Hehehe ^_^ Last week I took a break from blogging. I was busy preparing myself for the Selangor Children's Book Fair 2024 (SCBF 2024). Yep, I took part in the Meet & Greet session at SCBF 2024. Syukur alhamdulillah, everything was awesome at the event. For today's post, I'm going to share this month's episode of the Book Heartthrob Profile. Yay! For this month's episode, I'm going to feature Rowan Kane. He is a book heartthrob created by Lauren Asher for one of her best-selling novels, The Fine Print. Now let's check out Rowan Kane's profile...
ABOUT ROWAN KANE
NAME: Rowan Galahad Kane
AGE: 30 years old (It was mentioned in the novel)
OCCUPATION: Director of Dreamland (a theme park)
HIS ROLES IN THE STORY: The male lead and the love interest to the female lead, Zahra Gulian.
HIS GOALS:
Rowan wants people to see him for who he is on the inside. He wants to be accepted for who he is without being judged. Rowan loves drawing. He is very artistic and imaginative. But his father, Seth Kane doesn't accept him for that.
Even though Seth never tells Rowan to quit art, the horrid businessman tries his best not to show any support for his son's passion for art. When Rowan was a kid, he participated in a lot of art exhibitions. But his father never showed up at any of his exhibitions. So poor Rowan had to watch all the other kids’ parents celebrate while he stood there by himself. Seth's behavior made Rowan give up his passion for art. However, fate is kind to Rowan. Along game Zahra Gulian...
HIS PERSONALITY
At the beginning of the story, Rowan Kane is portrayed as a workaholic businessman with an iceberg persona. He's a grumpy person, a man with a few words, and doesn't like to socialize with others. He is categorized as a lost soul and a morally grey hero.
If you look at Rowan with one eye, you will think he is reserved, arrogant, selfish, and bossy. But if you look at Rowan with two eyes and your heart, you will know that Rowan is actually artistic, kind-hearted, romantic, and a very sensitive man. He is a person with feelings even though he refuses to show them.
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Rowan is born handsome. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall. He has a masculine body. His hair is dark brown in color. And his eyes are deep caramel in color. I can imagine... he must be very dreamy looking ^_^
HIS BACKSTORY
Rowan was abandoned by his father after his mother died when he was only a child. Actually, Seth Kane abandoned all of his children after his wife passed away. Geez... what a terrible father!
Rowan and his two elder brothers, Declan and Callahan were raised by their grandfather, Brady. Like Rowan, Brady is also artistic and is good at drawing. It was Brady who thought Rowan arts. Rowan inherits his art talent from his grandfather. As a kid, Rowan always dreamed of becoming an artist. The bond Rowan had with his grandfather was different from the one he shared with his father.
Rowan's father, Seth is never artsy. And art is never his thing. And because of that, Seth does not know how to connect with Rowan. When Rowan was a kid, he always heard his parents argue about him. Seth would get angry because he didn’t know how to bond with Rowan, so his mom would cry. It got particularly worse once his mom got sick. Not long after that, Rowan's mother died.
Seth treated his sons like shit because he was scared. To Seth, raising his sons on his own means accepting that his wife was truly gone. Seth wasn’t ready for that. So the horrible man abandoned his sons when they needed him the most. Instead of losing one parent, the Kane brothers lost both: one to cancer, and the other to his vices.
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
Overall, Rowan Kane is a well-crafted character and a make-believe one. He has strengths. But he also has flaws. He is definitely not a Gary Stu.
Rowan's backstory makes me sympathize with him and love him even more. I don't know why... but these days I get so passionate and emotional about kids being neglected by their parents when they were growing up. Being abandoned and neglected is a mental abuse. No kid deserves that. Reading stories about kids being abandoned and neglected makes me sad and angry. People like Seth Kane don't deserve to live! Parents, please don't be selfish. Please be there for your kids when they need you. I hope Rowan's story will be an eye-opener for all parents.
Other than his backstory, Rowan is also a swoon-worthy hero. He is artistic, creative, intellectual, kind-hearted, romantic, and sensitive. I adore this character a lot. I definitely had a crush on him while I was reading The Fine Print. Rowan's personality says he is more of a sigma male than an alpha male.

DeleteI love how you describe the characters' traits and physical features. Then you create a drawing of them. It allows the readers to have a visual of each character. Rowan sounds like a complicated character with a sad background story. I love reading about characters that are like that.
