Okay, now let's carry on with today's objective. In today's post, I will share my review of a historical romance novel I read during my East Coast vacation. The novel is titled Chasing Cassandra. This novel is listed as a New York Times bestseller and it is written by Lisa Kleypas. Now let's check out Lisa Kleypas' bio...
ABOUT LISA KLEYPAS
Lisa Kleypas is a New York Times bestselling author. She's also a RITA (Romance Writer Of America) award-winning author of both historical romance and contemporary women's fiction. Most of Kleypas' novels have been published in 14 different languages. Kleypas is an alumnus of Wellesley College. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. She became Miss Massachusetts in 1985. Kleypas lives in Washington with her husband, Gregory, and two children.

Chasing Cassandra (CC) is a heartwarming slow-burn romance story between a hopeless romantic beauty and a frozen-hearted railway magnate. The story takes place during the Victorian era in England.
Tom Severin has it all. He is wealthy, successful in his field, charismatic, charming, and extremely good-looking. He has all the qualities of a perfect suitor. And looking for a perfect wife won't be difficult for Tom Severin. At least that's what most people believe.
Lady Cassandra is the youngest and the only Ravenel sister who still hasn't found her suitor. Cassandra is not just beautiful. She is also kind-hearted, quick-witted, and romantic. She has all the qualities of a perfect wife. And the moment Tom Severin gets his glimpse of Cassandra, he is determined to have her.
As a romantic person, Cassandra only wants to marry for love. Yes, she wants a love match. But love is the one thing Tom can't give her. Oh dear... oh why?
As the story evolves, Tom and Cassandra fall harder for each other. The more they meet, the more they desire each other. Plus, they also learn about each other. Cassandra discovers that Tom is not a frozen-hearted man after all. He is actually a kind-hearted, romantic, and sensitive man. It was his past that made him frozen-hearted. Yep, Tom Severin has abandoned issues.
When Cassandra realizes Tom's problem, she tries to heal him. She gives him Jules Verne's novel Around The World In 80 Days. Cassandra believes that reading novels might help Tom to discover himself and learn about other people who are different from him. Will this help Tom Severin overcome his abandoned issues? Will Tom Severin discover the meaning of love?
MY REVIEW OF CHASING CASSANDRA
Chasing Cassandra is the sixth book in Lisa Kleypas' Ravenel series. And I believe CC is the best book in the series. This novel is not just swoon-worthy. But it is also heartwarming and shows the reality of a romantic relationship. There are four love lessons I learned from reading CC. And I'm going to share them in this review. Hehehe ^_^
Firstly, I like the plot and the storyline of this story. I believe Chasing Cassandra has a very compelling plot and storyline. The story is so heartwarming. It touches my heart deeply. I cried tears of joy at the end of the story. CC is a very healing novel indeed. It gives me the feeling of having someone special by my side.
Tom Severin is a very crush-worthy book heartthrob. I like that Kleypas makes him a sigma hero instead of an alpha hero. This character is also a make-believe and I can relate him to a real person. Tom Severin is now listed as one of my top 10 favorite book heartthrobs. I really have a crush on him while reading CC. In fact, I still have a crush on him now. Yep, I'm having a Chasing Cassandra hangover and still not over the story. Hehehe ^_^
Besides Tom Severin, I also like Lady Cassandra's character. I believe she's one of the best book beauties an author ever created. Cassandra is not just beautiful and a hopeless romantic kind of girl. She's also mature, smart, quick-witted, kind-hearted, a go-getter, and knows what she wants. The way Cassandra shows her love, sincerity, and kindness to Tom touches my heart. If there are more girls like Lady Cassandra Ravenel, the world will definitely be a better place. Reading CC also makes me understand men better. But a lady like Cassandra is only for a good man ya. Not jerks. Hehehe ^_^
The chemistry between Tom Severin and Lady Cassandra Ravenel is so beautiful and wonderful. These two characters love each other so dearly. They are so caring for each other. They accept each other's strengths and flaws. And readers feel attached to their chemistry as well.
I also like that Lisa Kleypas uses classic literature as a commercial value for this story. It makes the story more enjoyable, fun, and chic to read. It's really fun knowing all the classic literature books like Around The World In 80 Days, Sense & Sensibility, and Pride & Prejudice were an in-thing during the Victorian era.
Overall, I rate this novel 10/10. I believe it's one of the best novels I've read this year. I will definitely read this novel again soon. Hehehe ^_^ I also highly recommend my fellow bookworms to check out Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas, especially those who are into romantic stories and those who want to venture into the romance genre. Trust me, you won't be disappointed, guys. However, I do need to be honest that this novel has some spicy romantic scenes in it. So it is not suitable for those who are under 18.
Okay, so this is my review of Chasing Cassandra. Now let me share some of the love lessons I learned from reading CC...
#1 LOVE IS ABOUT EMBRACING EACH OTHERS IMPERFECTIONS
The word perfect does not exist in love. Love is never perfect. But love is an adventure. And imperfections make love beautiful. Like Cassandra and Tom, they never judged each other. They embrace each other's imperfections. If you love someone dearly, don't judge them for their flaws and past. Remember, a person's flaws and past make them beautiful inside out ^_^
#2 LOVE IS A MIRACLE
If a person is loved by the right person, miracles will happen to them. That's what happened to Tom Severin in the story. Cassandra loves him with sincerity and kindness. And it opens his heart to love. Btw, all Lisa Kleypas' stories are about love, kindness, sincerity, and miracles.
#3 IF YOU LOVE SOMEONE, BE PATIENT. GIVE THEM TIME AND SPACE
If you love someone, don't be pushy. Give them air to breathe. Let the person you love have time and space for themselves. That's what Cassandra did in the story. Even though Cassandra desires Tom Severin a lot, she never pastures him to make his move. She waits for him. She waits for the right time. Love cannot happen suddenly. There's always a right time for love.
#4 IF IT'S MEANT TO BE, IT WILL FIND YOU
If two people a made of each other, they will end up together. Put your trust in God. God always has good plans for everyone. Most important be kind and sincere. Insya-Allah, everything will be at ease ^_^
