NOVEL REVIEW: XOXO BY AXIE OH

Annyeong Fadneiras,

Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. I'm back with another novel review. In today's post, I will share my review of XoXo. XoXo is a YA romance novel written by Axie Oh. Now let's begin this review with Axie Oh's bio...

 ABOUT AXIE OH

Korean-American author~ Axie Oh (Image: lasvegasweekly.com)

Axie Oh is a Korean-American author. She was born in New York and raised in New Jersey. Oh studied Korean History and Creative Writing as an undergrad at the University of California San Diego. She also holds an MFA in writing for young people from Lesley University.

Other than writing, Oh loves K-pop, anime, stationery supplies, and milk tea. Oh resides in Las Vegas, Nevada with her puppy, Toro.

ABOUT XOXO

XoXo follows a Korean-American girl named Jenny. Jenny lives in Los Angeles and dreams of becoming a professional cellist. The Manhattan School Of Music is her goal.

Jenny works hard to achieve her dream and goal. Practice is all Jenny does during her free time. That is until she meets a handsome South Korean boy named Jaewoo. Jaewoon takes Jenny into an unforgettable evening wandering along Los Angeles with him the night before his flight home to South Korea.

At first, Jenny thought all she had with Jaewoo was just a one-day romance. But later in the story, Jenny and her mom move to Seoul to take care of her ailing grandmother. Jenny has to attend an elite performing arts school in Seoul. And that's where she meets Jaewoon again. Woah!

Jaewoo is also a student at the performing arts school. And turns out, he is not just any student. He is a member of an all-boy K-pop group called XoXo. Oh wow! Jenny is shocked! Just like most K-pop idols, Jaewoo is strictly forbidden from dating anyone.

In the middle of the story, Jenny and Jaewoo's feelings for each other grow. But dating won't be easy for Jenny and Jaewoo. Their relationship might endanger  Jaewoo's career. And it also might jeopardize Jenny's dream of entering The Manhattan School Of Music. So Jenny has to decide between her future and her present.

Is Jenny going to give up on Jeawoo for the future that she been dreaming of? Or is she going to give up on her dream to be with Jaewoo? You need to read XoXo to find out ^_^

MY REVIEW OF XOXO

XoXo is an awesome read. I like the premise, plot, and storyline. XoXo is a story about life, relationship struggles, dreams, friendship, and family. Reading XoXo gives me deja vu of my own novel, Saranghaeyo Namsan, and The Hush Society Presents by Izzy Matias. This novel is suitable for all go-getters to read.

Besides the premise, plot, and storyline, I also like Jenny's character. I believe Oh crafted her well. She's a go-getter and make-believe character. Jenny knows what she wants and she sticks to it. I'm glad that the author gave her a very heartwarming ending. Jenny finds a solution to her conflict. Yay! ^_^

I also like the way Oh portrays Jenny's relationship with her mother and grandmother. Even though there is turbulence in Jenny's relationship with her mother, they are still good. Jenny's mother strongly believes that her daughter was born to be a professional cellist. And that's what Jenny wants the most as well. She protects that dream for her daughter. She doesn't want anything to come between Jenny and her dream.

Besides Jenny's relationship with her mother and grandmother, I also like the way Oh portrays Jaewoo's relationship with his mother and sister. Even though Jaewoon is a celebrity, he is still a regular boy with his family. And Jaewoo always remembers his family even though he is busy with his career.

Other than family relationships, I also like the way the author portrays friendship in this story. The friendship in this story is so sincere. No hard feelings. It makes the story heartwarming. It also gives readers a feel-good vibe. Thank you, Axie Oh. I really enjoyed reading XoXo.

Overall, I rate this novel 10/10. It's a very enjoyable read. I highly recommend my fellow bookworms to read this novel. Trust me, guys, XoXo is a novel you must not miss. Plus, XoXo is also a very inspiring read. This novel is suitable for all go-getters.

Okay, so this is my review of Axie Oh's XoXo. So has anyone read XoXo? If yes, what are your opinions of the story? Btw, I have one fun question for my readers...

If someone you're dating is a celebrity, how will you react? Hehehe ^_^

Thank you for reading this review. I'll see you guys in my next post. Khungang hasaeyo ^_^
