SEVEN INSPIRING FICTION BOOKS FOR GO-GETTERS
Eiyo Fadneiras,
Welcome back to my blog. I'm glad to see you guys again ^_^ In today's post, I'm going to share a list of seven inspiring fiction books for go-getters to read. These books have an inspiring plot, storyline, premise, characters, and messages. Reading them gives you the courage to chase your dreams. Yeah! Now let's begin the list...
#1 THE HUSH SOCIETY PRESENTS BY IZZY MATIAS
The Hush Society Presents (THSP) is a slice-of-life and coming-of-age novel written by Filipino author and blogger, Izzy Matias. The story follows a young boy named Cameron. Cameron dreams of becoming a musician. Plus, he wants to be in a band. But unfortunately, Cameron is not receiving support from his parents. Cameron's father wants him to go to business school instead. So which one will Cameron choose? His dream? Or his parents' dream?
THSP is the best book I read last year. I describe this book as brilliant. The author highlights youth, dreams, life struggles, friendship, family, music, arts, mental health, and romance in THSP. The plot, storyline, message, commercial values, and characters are well-blended. Everything in this story is just perfect, amazing, and awesome. This book is a must-read for all go-getters. THSP is not just an enjoyable book to read. But it's also very inspiring. It makes you feel determined to chase your dreams.
#2 THE SPHERE BY KID HAIDÉR
When life becomes stagnant, it's high time to make a move. That's what Kid Haidér tells his readers in The Sphere. The Sphere follows a young woman named Marina. Marina is flying high in her career. She has a stable job at a cosmetic company. She also has a rich hunky fiancee named Norman. But Marina still feels incomplete. Working with a cosmetic company and being engaged to a rich yuppy are not her dreams. And yet, her life has become stagnant. So Marina needs to move out of her comfort zone. But unfortunately, Marina does not know what she wants. What is Marina's new dream? As a human being, Marina can't prevent time from moving. She needs to be brave and go sailing without a map.
The Sphere is a very inspiring fiction book to read. This novel motivates you to move out of your comfort zone. It also gives you the courage to move forward in life. You don't have to know or realize what your dream is to move forward. You just need to keep on swimming. With hard work, courage, and sincerity, you will find the right path.
#3 POEMSIA BY LANG LEAV
Poemsia follows an aspiring author named Verity Wolf. Verity lost her parents in a tragic car accident when she was only 7 years old. After her parents died, Verity was raised by her grandparents - Pop (her grandfather) and Nan (her grandmother) in a small apartment above Pop's secondhand bookstore -Wolf Books. Growing up in a bookstore nurtured Verity's passion for poetry and creative writing. Verity always dreamed of becoming a famous poet like her idol, Meena Rhodes. With social media, everyone can publish their work or art like a speed train nowadays. At the beginning of Poemsia, Verity took her first step by publishing her work on Instagram after her BFF, Jess, highly encouraged her to do so. Besides her own poem, Verity also uploaded an 18th-century poem titled Poemsia on her Instagram as her inspiration and all-time favorite poem. Most of Verity's followers think that Poemsia is her original work. Words spread fast. Verity became popular for Poemsia. She gained many followers on Instagram and became a star poet with just a blink.
Poemsia is a very beautiful novel. The storyline is interesting, exciting, and fast. I think the author is very honest in her writing. I somehow feel that Poemsia is based on the author's life story. Leav is probably telling us what her life was like during her early days as a poet. Therefore, I highly recommend Poemsia to my writer friends and those who dream of becoming a writer. This story gives you inspiration to follow your dreams.
#4 SI BAJU KURUNG KASUT KANVAS BY UMIE NADZIMAH
Si Baju Kurung Kasut Kanvas (SBKKK) is a romantic comedy novel written by Malaysia's bestselling author, Umie Nadzimah. The story follows a sigma female named Suria Rihana. Suria is a girl who is totally comfortable in her own skin. She doesn't care what others think of her. She is totally unapologetically herself. When it comes to fashion, Suria doesn't follow the trend. She has her own style. Baju kurung (Malay traditional garment) and sneakers are her signatures. Most people criticize Suria's fashion sense. To them, Suria's style is awkward and not ladylike at all. Some people believe Suria is not comfortable in her own skin. Some even say Suria cannot get a husband because of her awkward sense of fashion. Oh, how bad!
This novel is actually a parody. In SBKKK, the author criticized the Malay-kampungs' stereotypical way of thinking: a girl has to be beautiful, feminine, and dress well to get a good husband. The author also criticized Malay-kampungs' negative attitude which is gossiping, discriminating, and bad-talking others.
What makes SBKKK an inspiring story is the protagonist. Suria Rihana is a go-getter character. She's a good inspiration and role model for young girls. Suria knows what she wants. She has dreams and visions. And Suria is not afraid to go for her dreams. She doesn't allow other people's criticism to stop her from chasing her dream. Being criticized for her unique fashion sense doesn't stop Suria from having her own fashion line. Plus, Suria even scores a prince charming by being herself. Atta, girl!
#5 DEVIL IN SPIRING BY LISA KLEYPAS
Like Si Baju Kurung Kasut Kanvas, Devil In Spring (DIS) is another story with a go-getter heroine. DIS is a romantic comedy historical romance fiction written by my all-time favorite author, Lisa Kleypas. The story is set during the Victorian era in England. It follows an eccentric wallflower named Lady Pandora Ravenel. Most debutantes dream of finding a husband during the season. But Lady Pandora has different ambitions. The creative genius beauty dreams of becoming a board game designer. Pandora rather stay at home and work on her board game ideas instead of participating in the London season.
DIS is a very enjoyable feel-good romance novel to read. Reading this novel makes me happy ^_^ I mostly like Lady Pandora Ravenel's character. Pandora is ambitious, unique, artistic, creative, innovative, and imaginative. She's a go-getter indeed. Pandora is a very inspiring character. She knows what she wants. She's also honest and never gives up on her dreams. Pandora is a role model indeed.
#6 XOXO BY AXIE OH
XoXo is a YA romance, slice-of-life, and coming-of-age novel written by Korean-American author, Axie Oh. I recently reviewed this novel in my previous post. It's one of the best novels I read this year. The story follows a Korean-American girl named Jenny. Jenny dreams of becoming a professional cellist. The Manhattan School of Music is her goal. One summer in Los Angeles, Jenny meets a handsome boy named Jaewoo. Jaewoo is not just an ordinary boy. He is a K-pop idol and a member of an all-boy group called XoXo.
XoXo is a story about teenagers, dreams, life struggles, family, friendship, and romance. In XoXo, Jenny struggles to make choices. It is either her relationship with Jaewoo or her dream of entering the Manhattan School of Music. Which one will Jenny choose? Must Jenny give up one to get one? Can she get both?
XoXo is another novel that inspires readers to chase their dreams. The protagonist, Jenny is a go-getter. Jenny knows what she wants. She sticks to her dream and goal. XoXo is a must-read novel for all go-getters. And if Dream High is your favorite K-drama, XoXo is a novel you must not miss!
#7 SARANGHAEYO NAMSAN BY FADIMA MOONEIRA
And last but not least, here's my novel, Saranghaeyo Namsan. Hehehe... cheeky me :P But this novel is a must-read for all go-getters. And here's why...
Saranghaeyo Namsan (SN) follows an ordinary beauty named Maya Juhara. Maya dreams of becoming a historical romance author just like her idols, Jane Austen and Lisa Kleypas. But unfortunately, she has no inspiration until one unexpected discovery. Maya is a girl with dreams and ambitions. She's willing to do whatever it takes to go for what she wants including moving to South Korea. Maya lives in Seoul for eight months to write her first novel. Being away from family is not an easy thing for Maya or even anyone else. While living in Seoul, Maya misses her home, family, friends, and two munchkin cats (Lillian & Daisy) a lot. But to achieve her dreams Maya has to be strong. Maya's determination and courage make her achieve more than what she dreams of.
Saranghaeyo Namsan belongs to the romantic comedy and slice-of-life genre. Besides romance, SN is a story about dreams, youth, life struggles, family, and friendship. SN centers around the book & creative writing industry. Besides go-getters, this novel is also geared towards bookworms, foodies, music lovers, fashionistas, rom-com and K-drama addicts. SN is suitable for both, adults and teenagers.
Happily ever after is the message I want my readers to bring home. I'm a strong believer in happily ever after. And I do want my readers to be inspired to go for their happily ever after. But happily ever after is not something easy to achieve. You have to go through a lot of pain and sacrifices first. But with courage, bravery, strength, kindness, and love, Insya-Allah you will achieve it. Saranghaeyo Namsan is selling at RM35.00.
