NOVEL REVIEW: THE GALLANT PRINCESS BY DYNNA ZAIN

Eiyo Fadneiras,

Fadima Mooneira is back with another novel review. How are you guys feeling? I'm not feeling well lately. I'm having a terrible cold, flu, and sore throat. Uhhhuuuuuuu...

Okay, let's not talk too much about this. Let's carry on with today's objective. The novel I will review today is The Gallant Princess (TGP) by Dynna Zain. TGP belongs to the romantasy genre. Now let's begin this review with Dynna Zain's bio...

ABOUT DYNNA ZAIN

Dynna Zain is a Malaysian novelist. She was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur. She's also the second child of six siblings. Dynna recently completed her studies in Digital Art. This young novelist has published two novels before The Gallant Princess: Cinderelicious, and The Runaway Princess. The Gallant Princess is the second book in the Princess series.

ABOUT THE GALLANT PRINCESS

The story is set in a fictional world called Lothenial. Lothenial is modeled after Medival Europe. Two childhood sweethearts, Alana and Leif have been inseparable. One day, Leif went missing in the forbidden woods. Alana was upset. This was not the first time Alana lost someone precious to her.

When Alana was only six years old, she witnessed her twin sister, Amanda's death in the forbidden woods. Amanda was shot with an arrow. Alana was so scared to inform her parents of Amanda's passing. So she buried her twin in the woods all by herself. When Alana returned home, she told her parents that Amanda had run away. And they believed her. Geez! What a lie Alana.

Not long after Leif went missing, Alana's parents went missing as well. Alana studied martial arts and decided to join the army. She wanted to search for her parents and Leif. That's where she met Lucas Hunter, a handsome grey-eyed hunk. Lucas helped Alana to master martial arts. They became close friends and created special bonds.

Four years later, Alana went to the palace. Instead of joining the military, she is hired as a maid instead. Oh poor, Alana. At the palace, Alana met Leif. And to Alana's surprise, Leif is no longer the same boy she used to know. He's now the crown prince of Lothenial. Oh wow... who is the real Leif? How come he is a prince? What actually happened to him?

Besides Leif, Alana also received another surprise in the palace. Her twin sister, Amanda whom she thought was dead is alive. Amanda's now a noblewoman. Plus, she's dating Leif. Omg! What actually happened to Amanda? How did she end up in the palace as a noblewoman?

MY REVIEW OF THE GALLANT PRINCESS

TGP is the second Dynna Zain's novel I've read after The Runaway Princess (TRP). I like TGP more than TRP: the world-building is more awesome, the characters are memorable, the plot is more interesting, the storyline is way more intriguing, and of course, Dynna Zain's writing is more mature and sharp in this novel. Congrats, Dynna Zain ^_^

Lothenial is not just engaging, but it's also very chic and trendy. The way Dynna Zain describes some scenes in TGP makes me want to be there, especially the ball Alana and Lucas attended. Hehehe ^_^

Even though TGP is a fantasy story, the characters in it are make-believe. All have their unique qualities, and all have their flaws and backstories. Amanda is an antagonist I can't hate. Fate was not kind to her at the beginning of the story. I like Amanda's character. She is charming and intriguing. I wonder, will Dynna Zain give Amanda her own story soon. Hehehe ^_^

My fan art of Lucas & Alana. Love their relationship in the story ^_^ (Image: My Artstagram @fmooneira_art)

This novel is a page-turner. The plot is interesting. The storyline is intriguing. Once you open the book, you will have a hard time putting it down. It makes you want to know what happened next? How come Amanda is alive? What actually happened to Amanda? What happened to Leif? What is Leif's true identity and backstory? Woah!

If TGP becomes a movie, I'm sure it will be amazing. I love the story a lot. I hope TGP will be adapted into a movie one day. Aamiin.

Overall, I rate this novel 10/10. I absolutely love it a lot. And Insya-Allah, I will repeat reading it in the future. I hope Dynna Zain will continue writing her Princess series. I love fantasy stories about brave and strong princesses. Hehehe ^_^  I also highly recommend my fellow bookworms to check out The Gallant Princess, especially if you're into the romantasy genre and stories about princesses. Trust me, you will enjoy TGP. It's a novel you must not miss.

Last but not least, I need to be honest that there are some violent scenes in TGP. So TGP might not be suitable for those who are under 15. Huhuhu...

Okay, so this is my review of Dynna Zain's The Gallant Princess.  Before I end this post, let me ask my readers four related questions...

1) Have you read The Gallant Princess by Dynna Zain?

2) If yes, what are your opinions of the world-building in TGP?

3) Who is your favorite character in TGP? And why?

4) What is your favorite romantasy novel?

Thank you for reading my review. I'll see you guys again in my next post. Take care ^_^

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^
